You reached out to DCCD

You've made the first — and most important — move. Whether it was a WhatsApp message, the contact form, or a phone call, DCCD is now aware of your child's needs.

Prepare a brief summary of your main concern before the call — it helps our team triage and assign the right therapist quickly.

Stage 2

Assessment Booked

Your intake session is confirmed

A 60-minute clinical intake session is scheduled. Our therapist will observe your child in structured and unstructured activities and speak with you in depth about your concerns and family history.

Bring any previous reports, school feedback, or short videos of your child at home — these give us valuable context that a clinic observation alone can't capture.

Stage 3

Report Received

Your child's assessment findings are in

You have your child's written report — a detailed document covering areas of strength, areas of difficulty, clinical impressions, and recommended therapy goals and frequency.

Read the report with your partner or a trusted support person. Write down every question that comes up. Your debrief call with the therapist is the right time to ask them all.

Stage 4

Therapy Started

Weekly sessions are underway

Your child's therapy sessions have begun. Alongside clinic sessions, you'll receive home strategies and parent coaching so that progress extends well beyond the therapy room.

Consistency is everything. Even 5–10 minutes of home practice daily produces dramatically better outcomes than clinic sessions alone.

Stage 5

Progress Reviewed

Goals re-assessed and plan updated

You've completed your first formal milestone review. Goals have been revisited, progress has been measured, and the therapy plan has been refined to reflect your child's growth.

Celebrate every win — no matter how small. Progress in child development is cumulative and non-linear. A plateau is not regression; it's consolidation.
